Michael Garrisi was raised in Eastpointe, Michigan, graduated from East Detroit High School, and went on to Baker College to get an Associates’s & Bachelor’s Degree in Paralegal Studies. He firmly believes that fate led him to an Elder Law and Estate Planning law firm in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, for his first paralegal position. At the age of twenty-one, he began assisting people with their plans for the end of life with Elder Law and helping them install the protections of Estate Planning. This included WWII Veterans who needed help getting approval for VA Benefits and Medicaid Coverage for Nursing Home Care. Working with our veterans has been his honor and one of the highest thrills of his lifetime.
Mike has worked with estate planning attorneys for fourteen (14) years and is a great asset in assisting our clients with creating and delivering their estate planning documents. Axis Estate Planning has benefited tremendously from his decade of experience with Elder Law, which includes Medicaid Planning, and Preplanning, for nursing home coverage. Michael is very knowledgeable and naturally in tune with the needs of the elderly. Our clients have appreciated his compassion and kindness when visiting them in nursing homes and hospitals.
When asked why there was such an interest in the estate planning field, Mike explained: “Estate Planning can be one of the few areas of law that is non-combative. We are retained to build shields for our client’s protection, not swords to defeat their adversaries. It’s a relief to be solely focused on helping our clients and not to be focused on disarming their enemies. I will always be grateful that my life’s path led me here.”
Mike enjoys fishing in Lake St. Clair, hunting in Grayling and Capac, MI, and playing guitar. He also plays cribbage every Friday night with his brother who is his Irish Twin.
